Re-installation of Office / after 'online repair' - Microsoft Community

- Do you really need to buy Microsoft Office?
I have a new computer and want to install my version of Microsoft Office Home and Business that I purchased for my old computer on the new computer. It tells me I have an invalid product key when I try to install both download and via phone. I see nothing about deactivating the old computer's version and being able to install it on the new computer. Is this possible to do? It does not say anything about too many activations, only product key is invalid.
When I type in the number via phone that shows up to give them, it says the same thing and hangs up. If this is possible to do, please tell me in detail as I cannot seem to reach a human at any of these numbers. Thank you! Office Home and Business is allowed on only one machine at a time an "improvement" MS made to the license terms with ALL Office licenses are associated with an email account. Once that is done, you don't need the product key anymore for transfers.
BUT do keep a record of it! On the new computer, log in to the MyAccount page. Click on Install. This should show you that you have it installed on the old computer. Beside that indication, there will be a "deactivate" link. Click on it. This will remove the license from that machine. Office will remain on it, in limited function mode that is read and print only.
On the same page in the MyAccount site, click on install again. This will "transfer" the license to the new computer while installing Office for you. To re-install Office in general you need 2 things.
Your unique product key and the matching generic installation file for the appropriate year and bundle. These two elements can be found in a number of places, depending on your specific Year of Office and the bundle. For Office and earlier you need the key and install file, but with and later things have been changing. Office allows users to do all sorts of license management through the MyAccount page.
Office forces you to associate your license to an email account so the original product key becomes effectively one-time use.
